Adorable Telling of Jonah the Whale by Little Southern Belle

Three year-old Mattison was raised on a church pew and enjoys retelling what she learned in her Sunday school class for all to enjoy. She will draw a smile to your face today! 🙂

One evening, as the fire crackled in the hearth and the scent of magnolias drifted through the air, Susie Mae gathered her friends around her and said, “Y’all ever heard ’bout Jonah and the whale?”

Her friends shook their heads, eager to hear the tale spun in Susie Mae’s charming way.

“Well, let me tell y’all,” Susie Mae began, her voice as soft as a breeze through the cotton fields. “Jonah was a man who got himself in a mighty pickle. He was supposed to do what the good Lord told him, but he up and decided he didn’t want to listen.”

Her friends leaned in closer, hanging onto every word.

“Now, the good Lord, He ain’t one to be trifled with,” Susie Mae continued. “So, He sent a big ol’ whale to teach Jonah a lesson. This whale, he opened up his jaws wide and swallowed Jonah whole, like a catfish gobblin’ up a minnow.”

Gasps of amazement echoed around the room.

“But even in that dark belly of the whale, Jonah didn’t lose hope,” Susie Mae said, her eyes shining with admiration. “He prayed and prayed, and the good Lord heard him. So, the whale, he spat Jonah out onto dry land, safe and sound.”

Her friends cheered at the happy ending, clapping their hands and smiling wide.

“And that, my darlin’s,” Susie Mae said with a grin, “is the tale of Jonah and the whale. A story of redemption and the power of prayer, told in the true southern style.”

And with that, the fire crackled on, casting a warm glow over Susie Mae and her friends as they basked in the magic of storytelling under the southern stars.
