Amira’s father, Taveon Glenn, first shared the clip of his newborn getting her hair washed by a nurse at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, on social media in 2016. It quickly racked up millions of views from people who absolutely melted at the baby’s blissful reaction.
“I was crying,” the 20-year-old told Dayton.com, adding he recorded the clip to show his family members later. “She is my first baby and she was looking all cute.”
Taveon also told Today:
“Watching Amira getting her hair washed for the first time was one of the most priceless, breathtaking moments that I have ever witnessed, and I wanted to capture that moment so my family and friends could also see. It warmed my heart knowing that I created such a beautiful baby girl,” he gushed.
He also shared his views on why he believed the clip resonated with so many people.
“I think that the video got such much attention because everyone is used to seeing so much negativity on the news and social media. A precious, relaxed newborn is the exact thing that people needed to see. This video has brought smiles to so many faces and has also caused a whole lot of ‘baby fever,’” he stated.
Taveon added another reason why he believed the video touched people’s hearts was because it took them back down memory lane.
“Many people have told me that they enjoyed the video because it reminds them of when their children were small. I’m grateful that my daughter has warmed so many hearts across the world.”
