Have you ever found something important that belongs to someone else while out living your day-to-day life?
Perhaps a cane forgotten by an older person, or a set of lost keys laying on the ground?
One young boy from Green Bay, Wisconsin found a lost wallet and knew exactly how to handle it.
While on a sunny morning walk with his father Lorenzo, Vince Hietpas noticed a wallet sitting on the ground in Voyager Park.
He picked it up and opened it to see if he could find any identification of the owner.
He found a driver’s license and realized that the person’s house wasn’t that far away.
They walked to the location together and Vince rang the house’s doorbell, a video recorded Ring doorbell caught the interaction on tape.
It was only when he finally returned home that he noticed he had dropped his wallet.
The family had made plans to visit their neighbor for a Memorial Day BBQ when Vince rang their doorbell.
Chase’s father, Jason, opened his phone when he was notified of the doorbell ring and saw young Vince standing on his porch.
“Hi, we found your wallet.” said the boy, holding up the missing object.
Jason was shocked and immediately went back home to thank the boy for returning it.
He didn’t have any money on him at the time, but Jason took the money that was still in the wallet, about $2, and handed it to the boy.
The boy happily accepted the reward and continued on with the rest of his day with his father.
That wasn’t the end of the situation, though; Chase’s step-mom, Michelle, posted a notice on Facebook to spread the word about the kindness and selflessness of the young boy.
She created a GoFundMe page in order to raise a larger reward for the boy and his father.
Through Facebook, Michelle found out that the Hietpas family had been going through a hard time since Covid-19 had caused his father to lose his job.
The family got by with Lorenzo doing whatever random odd jobs he could find that he was able to do with his Covid aftereffects.
When asked what reward he really wanted, Vince simply said socks as it turned out that him and his father had been sharing socks while they were tight on money.
Through the GoFundMe page, over $10,000 has been raised to reward Vince and his family; he should be able to get plenty of new socks with that much cash.
