Many would agree that one of the most exciting things about being a parent is getting to witness each one of their child’s milestones. In the beginning, it’s the little accomplishments and firsts that mean the most as a child begins to explore the world around him/her.
One of the many things parents enjoy watching their infant do is eat something sour for the first time. In the beginning, children always seem to have a bit of a delay before realizing that what they just had was quite bitter or sour, making it entertaining to see their reaction. In one viral video, a baby does just that, and his facial expressions are priceless!
At the start of the clip, a family member puts a lime wedge to the boy’s mouth. I was already on the edge of my seat just waiting to see his reaction! At first, there was a bit of hesitation. You can tell, by the confused expression on the baby’s face, that the first impression of the lime wasn’t a positive one as he sticks out his tongue and twitches in absolute shock.
The little guy is still confused long after tasting the mysterious food as he keeps looking around the room, probably hoping that someone would help him make sense of the situation. Possibly, the child was trying to look around the room to see others react and decide how he should behave. This is something babies do as they develop emotional expression and social skills.
Luckily, the infant quickly gets over the whole lime fiasco seeing that his family was laughing and not making a big fuss over the situation. Next thing you know, one of his family members holds out the lime wedge once again to see if the boy would taste it again, and well, he does without hesitation! Oh no.
This time around, the boy practically gags, not remembering that the lime doesn’t have the most pleasant flavor for his little taste buds. Poor thing!
In the end, we got a good laugh, his family got a good laugh, and hopefully, the one-year-old will too when he looks back on this video!
